What is Passover?

Passover is a Jewish holiday that celebrates the Israelites Exodus from ancient Egypt, and their escape from Egyptian slavery to freedom. In Hebrew, you pronounce Passover as “Pesach.”

The central ritual of Passover is the Seder feast that involves the re-telling of the Exodus through stories from the Hagadah book, and the consumption of ritual foods, including Matzah and Maror (bitter herbs).

When is it celebrated?

Passover occurs in the Spring. Usually, it falls in late March or April of the Gregorian Calendar. In the Hebrew calendar, it occurs on the 15th day of month Nisan.

Passover Symbols
